A decade on the corporate side, with General Electric and Cox Communications, gave Tom insights on how to make the agency-client relationship really click. With that knowledge, and a handful of clients, he opened Bigelow Advertising in 1985.
The agency has grown over the years and the client list has lengthened, but one thing hasn’t changed: the high standards Tom set from day one. That may explain why Bigelow Advertising has been honored with over 300 regional, national, and international awards.
Now that Tom has worked on both sides of the business—client and agency—which does he prefer?
As Tom says, if the relationship is right, it’s the same side.
Didn’t know that: Tom once sat in with Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.” His instrument? The cannon.
